Nymph Review #2

Read: How to Seduce a Vampire (without really trying) by Kerrelyn Sparks
(Paranormal Romance)

*****spoilers!!!*****

*slight trigger warning for rape comments*

I couldn't put this down for long, even though I wanted to slap Neona's mother many times. Zoltan finds his soulmate, Neona, in Tibet. She lives in a Shangri-La-esque valley and is part of a woman-only cult that is something like if you took Raising Gazorpazorp (shout out to Rick and Morty fans) and mixed it with Xena: Warrior Princess, then made it a little rape-y. The cult was made after the leader Nima (Neona's mom) was abused by men. I totally understand not trusting men after abuse, and I can relate. But the Queenie seems to think this gives her the right to rape and kill other men. Sorry, no. I have little tolerance for sexual harassment towards any gender, and I wanted to bitch slap this queen so many times. Especially after I read what she did to her baby grandson. Something like "What? It's a boy! Damn it! Off to the Buddhist monastery with it!" Holy balls, grow a heart, Queenie. But enough of Queenie . . .

As for Zoltan and Neona--beautiful. It had all the feels. I loved their story. Two lonely people finding deep, true love . . . and they had plenty of fuck time, so that's always a plus. I mean, let's be truthful, the action and fighting evil vamps is nice and all, but we're buying these books to read about vampires banging. And this book delivered. I thought the ending with Zoltan "un-vampiring" himself was kinda weird. I mean, I'm gonna miss the fangs, but whateves, he's still a hottie, right?

My GIF-motion for this read is:

Nymph Review #1

Read: All I Want for Christmas is a Vampire by Kerrelyn Sparks (paranormal romance)

*****Spoilers!!!******

Vampires? Christmas? Scottish vampires in kilts? Yes please. I loved this book. Ian and Toni were a great couple to read about the whole story. Yes, they didn't bang until it was nearly the end of the book but it was worth the wait. When they did it they did it gooood. When Ian dressed as Dracula to get Toni's friend's uncle to stop embezzling her. I couldn't stop grinning. Cute and funny. Loved that Carlos was a were-panther. And did I mention Scottish vampires in kilts? Maybe I did, but can you get any hotter then that? No . . I don't think so.
Did I leave anything out? Well, let's see, there was mention of a vamp male-stripper dressed as a Native American who used feathers to barely hide his "wampum" . . .but that's beside the point.
I loved Ian, I think he was a well balanced character, you know . . .for a vampire smut novel. And Toni was also a balanced character, wanting to find family and love when she grew up with none.
Not to mention the battle scenes where Ian fights evil bad-guy vamps while wearing his, er, well-endowed kilt. I need more books like this in my life!

New Blogger Here (be kind, I don't know what I'm doing here. . .)

Hello blogiverse, The Bookish Nymph here. As my names states, I will be reading my nymph-y butt off.
Yes, reading.
This is the blog of an unapologetic bibliophile fangirl (in case you're wondering yes I do have a brain, and yes I also like Twilight). I read as much as I breathe, er, well, almost. I have read avidly since I was a small nymphet, and now I'm a full-blow nymph of the library.
My taste in books is very eclectic (i.e. random), but I do have my focuses (focus--a rare phenomenon for this airy nymph). Anyway, before I digress, my reads focus mainly on Fantasy, Paranormal Romance, and some Literary Fiction.
In this little realm on the Internet I call my own, I will be sharing all my reader obsessions with you fine people. Read-a-thons, buddy reads, book/library hauls, reviews--and probably rants--will all be featured here.
When it comes to romances, I am a sucker for hea (that's happily ever after), but I steer clear of overly corny "golly geez" type of romance--sorry Hallmark. No offence to anyone who loves that brand of corny, for I doth have my own brand of sappy shit. Just not my thing.
I like books full of steamy banging (yes, I will read erotica), and have discovered my need for therapy over the fact I love tall men with fangs. Yep--gimme that vampire angst. All dark and moody on the outside; all broken and gooey on the inside. I told you, I need some kind of program.
But instead of being on the road to recovery, I'm on the road to the vamp-smut aisle of Barnes & Noble.
And I'm ok with that.
As of now, I am reading several books at once and my TBR list continues to grow like a hot vampire's groin.
I'm doing a smut-a-thon with my guy--one of the magical bibliophile men in the world that likes reading romance novels (along with his Game of Thrones and LOTR stuff)--so there will be many smutty delights on my "currently reading" list.
Today (or at least soon), I will post two paranormal romance reviews from my Goodreads page. If you care to follow me on Goodreads, I can be found at BookishNymph *needs hea*

I bid you all a bookish farewell to go and enjoy your own reading pleasures--whatever your favorite genre may be. I don't judge . . .
