Hello, back again. I know it's been, er, a while. But I do have reasons, like life and relationships . . . and sparkly object. Now that I'm back, as you can see, my name has changed a bit. I am now The Naughty Nymph. This name change came about when I realized I'd like to talk about more then just books, though books will still reign supreme in my posts, I'm sure.

Speaking of books (shameless promotional segue here) I'm writing on WattPad now as Bookish Nymph. Yes, I'm typing away, trying to create my own world of smutty drama.

Ok, that's a bit over the top, but I've always loved writing, so I have to get my words out. 🤷😊

My profile has a couple of short stories and a few poems, but my main work--my baby--is a full-length m/m paranormal romance titled Synergy.

Now that my shameless promo is over, I'll move on. 😝

I going to start a new spot on The Naughty Nymph called "Movie Night". This will be inspired by my standing movie night date with my long-term BF. I'm using the weekly flick to my blogging advantages and writing up a movie review for whatever film we pick.

I'm test-driving this idea, so it may not be a permanent fixture . . .we'll see.

No matter what night we watch the movie, I'll try to post Movie Night on a Monday.

Movie night for me usually consists of rom-coms, romances, fantasy, foreign films, and book-turned-into-film flicks. So you never know what you're gonna get!

Another new idea I (may) start is sharing some activism views. (hints: love is love🌈, woman can choose ♀️, and Mother Earth needs you to give a fuck about her temperature🌎 End of hints.)
I may also delve into my love of music and share some shit about that part of my life.

Well, I've shared all the new ideas I have so far. I will now indulge my classic blog idea--books!!

I have finished many books since I left you all (sorry, sorry, sorry) but I'll be picking up with what I'm reading now.

Slide by Garret Leigh 

I have the Audible audiobook Slide going in my earbuds I'm half-ish way-ish through this dark m/m romance. I'm LOVING it! I'm a sucker for a m/m romance, and this one is edgy, broody, and sexy.
Shy Ash is a moody, troubled tattoo artist shacking up with a sexy paramedic named Pete. I don't want to spoil too much, but I will tell you the Prologue is like 🔥🔥🔥 and don't get me started on the steamy sex scenes. One scene where Pete tops, I was like

Full Bloom by Janet Evanovich

The second book I'm reading is a rom-com mystery from the famed Janet Evanovich. I haven't gotten too far into this one, but it is quirky right off the bat. So far, the main character, Annie, runs a B&B in South Carolina. A busty psychic tells Annie a man is coming into her life whom she will have steamy fuck times with . . . and side note: the B&B is haunted.

Annie then gets pissed off with a slacking handyman and chases him about the yard with a rolling pin.

Cue sexy Harley humping hot guy, (SPOILERS) who rides up and gets brained with said rolling pin. Then there's an elderly, absent-minded veterinarian who mistakenly gives brained hot guy, Wes, an animal tranquilizer--yes, all of this is happening in chapters one and two--and of course, for some convenient reason, Annie needs to put the passed out Wes in a tub, naked.

Beautiful Bastard by Christina Lauren

Last but certainly not least, is Christina Lauren's Beautiful Bastard. This book has been on my TBR ever since I found it at a library book sale for fuckin' fifty cents! I wasn't sure how I'd feel about this one, but so far I'm enjoying it and have even laughed. I was thinking it was going to be broody like 50 Shades, but it's actually funny. I'm having less of a problem with Bennett being a bastard because Chloe is kinda got a resting-bitch-face vibe, so I feel like they are angry twin flames that have mean hate-sex in crazy-ass places in their office building. And it's hilarious! 😂

One thing I do have to say to Bennett, if you want to see if a woman's into you, please don't go straight for the ass, bro!! Rude!

Random-ass book rant!

Yep, this is a random-ass book rant. I just feel like chatting about books today. My guy's away working and I'm sitting in the middle of hazardous stacks of romance novels with no one to rant at. So . . .you lucky people will receive my rants and jabber about all my  book opinions and whatever else flies in to my flaky brain. Because if I don't empty my head of all this I might, like, I don't now, exploded into an over-excited pile of nymphy glitter and tiny leprechauns will come a sweep me up and toss me out the window and then what would I do?

Ok, yeah . . . that was kinda weird--but like I said--random-ass book rant.

So I've popped some Def Leppard and Foreigner up on YouTube, and grabbed a bottle of coconut water (it's fucking hot here) and have prepared to smoke up my keyboard with things that don't really matter, but like, you know . . .I have a blog so might as well dump here as anywhere, right? Oh! And by the way--SPOILERS!! 🤪

I would like to say I have found two amazing book boyfriends in the last couple weeks (aren't I a little tart 😝).

The first was Mason from Wild Things by Jennifer Ashley. Holy balls, what a hottie. Now, I will preface with saying that I like my shape-shifters to phase into Leopards and the like . . .I'm usually not a wolf girl. But Mason was so adorable, moody, and sexy I was like "no, no, wolves are ok. I mean, they're loyal, right? Yeah, I can be a wolf girl for one short steamy erotic romance novel."

As soon as Mason hopped on that motorcycle wearing a hoodie to hide his collar (more on this in a moment) and had the wind whipping as he rode to find a physic that you know he was going to get hard for--I was like "that's what I'm talkin' about".

When Mason arrives in New Orleans to find this psychic called Jasmine, he finds something else as well. Her house is, well "alive" for lack of a better term. And when Jasmine's douche-bag ex comes around and threatens to call the cops on Mason (Shifters aren't suppose to leave their state, and Mason is from Texas) Mason goes to chase him, but Jasmine's house eats douche-bag ex. That's right eats him . . .how can you not like a book were a living house eats an asshole ex-boyfriend for dinner? I know I can't stay away from that kind of crazy.

Oh, back to the collar--as promised. Shifters are made to be "tame" by wearing a shock collar that shocks the shit out of them when they become too "aggressive". Sounds shitty to me, and I found this kind of annoying. Isn't that just like the government to do this to people. I was reading and muttering "that's not freedom, people" then I reminded myself this was fiction and Shifters aren't real. But if they were . . . .just sayin'.

I could go on and on about Wild Things, but so this post isn't a mile long, I will now speak of my second book boyfriend. Cam from Flirting with Forever.

Cam is a pediatrician who's hobby is hockey. Cam always knows when to bring donuts to a girl when she's feeling down, and when he's not at work, at the hockey rink, or on a donut run, he uses his spare time to read to sick children who can't sleep. Did anyone's ovaries just explode besides mine?

Yeah, that's what I thought.

I loved being in Cam's mind as he fought with his love (and lust) for his best friend Natalie. He was just too cute for words.

His adorable caring and primal libido had my mind drifting a lot as Cam--in all truth--kinda made me think of my guy. 

I know, I know--ya'll like "That's TMI, Bookish Nymph". Hey, I'm just keepin' it real. But I will refrain from spilling anymore person info (at least on this post).

Well, I guess I'll just wrap up this post before I get myself in the deep shit of the "endless rant" vortex. I will end by saying I suggest these two books highly to anyone who's a sucker for happy endings and adorable (if not moody in the case of Mason) heroes.

Nymph Review #4

Wild Things by Jennifer Ashley

Oh my gosh, so amazing. This is by far one of the best stories I've read this year. A sexy psychic and a wolf shifter seeking help with crystals and sage, house that "eat" evil ex-boyfriends, motorcycle rides, sex scenes filled with lust AND love. Mason and Jasmine were amazing together. Mason is a wolf shifter who makes guitars--already hot, right? Jasmine is a tattooed psychic with a house that ate her douche-bag ex-boyfriend. As soon as they meet--sparks! I just . . .this book was so perfect I don't think I could make it any better. I don't think I want to. Time for Another Nymph Review!

I just got done reading Flirting with Forever by Kendall Ryan. It was one of the better books I've read this year. Maybe not the best, (that place still belongs to Wild Things--a review of this book will be post today as well) but definitely up at the top.

I pick up Flirting with Forever at the spur of the moment while visiting my library. I saw it out of the corner of my eye on the "new" shelf. With that cover--I grabbed it up.

This book was perfect for me. It was sweet and sexy, and had no cheating with a HEA ending. I loved Cam, there wasn't really anything not to like about Cam. He was a big, sexy cinnamon roll of a character. I mean he was protective and caring and always came about with donuts. Dream man? Yes, definitely. Natalie was sweet with just enough sexy spunk to not be a Mary Sue. I liked her and was happy when they finally hooked up and left all that slow burning behind. They were just so cute together. I need more! Nothing explains this book better then:

It's Time for an Unhauling! 

I'm unhauling a shit load of books . . ok, maybe it's only a shit load to me, the book-hoarder. But work with me, people. I'm actually getting rid of books! This is a big deal for me. I mean, I usually don't ditch a books unless I hated the stories, and I went to a dark place of mental loathing that made me dump them off at the best donation spot available.
It's spring, and time for spring cleaning . . .I guess. . .or maybe I just want room for books I really want to read. Yeah, that's probably more like it. Anyway without further ado, the unhauling.

Death at Wentworth Court by Carola Dunn 

This book has been on my TBR since 2011, so yeah, I feel like I'm not gonna get around to this one. So out it goes. I'm sure it has a fan base, and I'm not dissing the book or it's author. But hanging about for eight years? Yeah, this book is just taking up space on my TBR list that could be dedicated to a good fantasy or a smutty delight, or . . I don't know, and educational book on potatoes. Ok, that was random, but you get my idea. It not getting read, so it getting knocked. Sorry Miss Dalrymple. . .

This is the second book in a series I wanted to try years ago, and I'm just not interested anymore. I mean, it still sounds cute, but I know I'm just not gonna read it. So goodbye, it's not you it's me.

Mr. Darcy's Little Sister by Allyn C. Pierson

This is a book I added back in 2012 when I was on a ravenous Austen/Regency binge. I never got around to this one, and since my ardor for this style of book has cooled slightly, I probably won't be reading it. So I'm afraid it will have to go to the unhaul pile. Maybe a Janeite will find it and give it a good home. That will make me feel better about tossing it away. Happy thoughts.

Christmas at Pemberley by Regina Jeffers

This is going for the same reason as the book before it. No longer digesting Regency books at the speed of light. I forgot I even had this, so off it goes to a home where it will be better respected.

Uncommon Grounds by Sandra Balzo

This was an impulse moment because of it's funny title. So, good bye, I release you to find a more fulfilling relationship with another.

Shadow Hand by Elisabeth Stengl

This was a "oh, what a pretty cover" moment. But as I flip through the pages, the story seems a little dull. So I'm using my hand to send it to the shadows of my unhauling.

Thrush Green by Miss Read

This was a pressure moment. Someone I know loved these books by Miss Read, and I was like, "Um, sure, I'll read one". But one quick flip and it's easy to see it's not really my jam, so bye-bye little purple book.

Satan At St. Mary's by Paul Doherty

Besides the funny title, I'm just not going to read this book. Ever. So, thou are released to find a better destiny then collecting dust on mine shelf.

Artifact by Gigi Pandian

This was an impulse. I don't read mysteries in the volume I used to, so I'm saying farewell.

Nutty as a Fruitcake by Mary Daheim

Yet another mystery. Funny title, cute cover, but I'm never going to get to this one. I just have so many other books I want to read.

Murder at Breakers by Alyssa Maxwell

I don't even remember getting this one! 

So I think it's safe to say I'm no longer interested . . .Sayonara.

Library Haul/April TBR

Today I will be doing a library haul and a TBR.
You may see more library hauls at the moment than book buying hauls as I'm trying to support my local library. . .and giving my own bookshelves a breather from their hefty exercise of getting stacked.
After weekend coffee and cuddles with my guy, it was time to set off to the library for a book hunt.
He's cool with letting me pick most of our romance reads, though he does make suggestions sometimes. Like Christian Feehan, if we're reading a Feehan book, it was probably his idea. I really enjoy this author now that I've read a few of her works. Here leopard series is really good and suggested if you like shape shifter that do it while leopard form, then phase back to human for round two. Kinda kinky, but also fun.
Another author he introduced me to is J.R. Ward and her Black Dagger Brotherhood series. As soon as I read one I fell in love, branding Zsadist my favorite BDB vamp.
These books are so full of action, sexy vampire angst, and love healing scars kinda stuff. I highly suggest them to anyone who loves paranormal romance. But I digress. I told ya'll, focus is not one of my qualities.
Back to the library haul. I meandered my way through the fiction aisles of the library, seeing many more books I wanted then it would ever be sane to check out at once--not that that's ever stopped me before. I've been known to have my book bag full and still carry a load of books in my arms to the car. *Mocking laughter* Who am I kidding? I have my book bag full and my guy is carrying an armload of my books to the car. There, I've now painted that scene more accurately.
Ok, digressing again, where was I? Oh, yes. The book shelves.
After scanning the bookshelves at the speed of a ninety-year-old granny on a Wal-Mart scooter cart whose battery is dying, I came up with the book stack I am hauling today.

Nymph Review #2

Read: How to Seduce a Vampire (without really trying) by Kerrelyn Sparks

(Paranormal Romance)

       *slight trigger warning for rape comments*

I couldn't put this down for long, even though I wanted to slap Neona's mother many times. Zoltan finds his soulmate, Neona, in Tibet. She lives in a Shangri-La-esque valley and is part of a woman-only cult that is something like if you took Raising Gazorpazorp (shout out to Rick and Morty fans) and mixed it with Xena: Warrior Princess, then made it a little rape-y. The cult was made after the leader Nima (Neona's mom) was abused by men. I totally understand not trusting men after abuse, and I can relate. But the Queenie seems to think this gives her the right to rape and kill other men. Sorry, no. I have little tolerance for sexual harassment towards any gender, and I wanted to bitch slap this queen so many times. Especially after I read what she did to her baby grandson. Something like "What? It's a boy! Damn it! Off to the Buddhist monastery with it!" Holy balls, grow a heart, Queenie. But enough of Queenie . . .

As for Zoltan and Neona--beautiful. It had all the feels. I loved their story. Two lonely people finding deep, true love . . . and they had plenty of fuck time, so that's always a plus. I mean, let's be truthful, the action and fighting evil vamps is nice and all, but we're buying these books to read about vampires banging. And this book delivered. I thought the ending with Zoltan "un-vampiring" himself was kinda weird. I mean, I'm gonna miss the fangs, but whateves, he's still a hottie, right?
